Gnats and fruit flies are those pesky insects that like to stay around your face and are always quicker than your swat at making their getaway. If you're an enthusiastic indoor gardener with lots of sunlight and you produce herbs and flowering plants, you'll get them regardless. And don't worry about where they came from; just be aware that if left unchecked, they will spread at an alarming rate. I would definitely advise an excellent pair of socks if you really want "thickness" and "warmth." Pay a little extra for the seamless toe and extra padding. Seriously. You only have one set of feet, so you want to be able to hike to safety if things go to hell in a handbasket. That being said, if you only want to kill whiteflies, fungi, and other pests that seem determined to DO IN MY FIRST HYDROPONICS BUILD, then this is exactly what you need and have no care for "thickness" and "warmth" does tremendous damage to anything, including flying insects.
