The fan is silent, so unless I really detest fruit flies and want a show fast, I usually leave it off. Because you can connect it to a USB charging device and leave it running indefinitely, it makes it easy to sleep with on. However, when the ZAP sound wakes you up in the middle of the night, it's kind of a bummer. The most wonderful morning sound ever. Although a hook would be great, it has a loop that settles in at the top. In order to clean and access the fan, the bottom may be removed. For the real folks, it's roughly the height of 1.5 coffee mugs and the width of a coffee mug. The hook required instead of a metal loop and the necessity for a white light for other items that prefer raw light are the only cons I could think of. However, I suppose that regular flies will also be drawn to UV light. Thus, a victory. Get it now. Unpaid for this work. When this book was first published in commercial paperback in 2001 or 2002, I read it for the first time. Back then, I worked in a bookshop, and I developed the habit of running back to read a book at the back of the store after grabbing lunch in the food court. During a couple of those lunches, I read Ms. Gray's book and really enjoyed it; however, because money was so tight at the time, I didn't end up buying it. (Confession: Booksellers don't actually make enormous sums of money.) After being unemployed for four or five years, Ms. Gray began work on a biography of Roger Corman in the late 1990s. When he learned about it, he called her in for a meeting. He said in that discussion that he would only take part in authoring the book if the finished product would largely present him in a positive light. Ms. Gray informed her that she would exercise her own discretion and adhere to some instructions he had previously given her. Thus, she acted. She continued writing the book, giving readers a fair and impartial assessment of Roger Corman's qualities and quirks.
